I'm not aware of a VST wrapper for SuperCollider, but SC can respond to both MIDI and OSC data, so it shouldn't be too hard to hook up with your DAW. CSound could be seen as the last of the "traditional" Music N languages, which focus mainly on sound synthesis, whereas ChucK and SuperCollider add flexible tools for composition as well. There has been no real effort to make Supercollider a true multi-platform application. On another list ( not the csoundtekno list, just a local thing ) there's been a discussion on supercollider vs csound. I love CSound (and it has the best FFT sound of them all) but SuperCollider is a great platform, very different to Max and therefore allows (forces) you to think in other ways. How come it's actually Black with the advantage here? Sound quality is the best of the best..... Sound Design Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for sound engineers, producers, editors, and enthusiasts. SuperCollider is a softsynth. Kyma is terrific and different from all of those but it comes with its own warts. SC is more of a programming language than Csound is, and so I think people with a more STEM background feel more at home with SC than Csound. If you own an Ipad, it is a fantastic wireless controller for kyma, makes a great performance interface. You could generate sounds in supercollider or CSound if you want. CDP is slow going but i'm having more fun so long term I can see that working well for me. Can I use these two or something else to generate waveform of sound and then use it as soft synth or generate soundfont? Most people who know what Csound is think of Csound as "that thing they used 20 years ago at university". I have tried running the so-called Windows version to no avail.
